Associate Principal Strategist, Business Design

We are seeking an Associate Principal Strategist to collaborate with the experienced staff at Smashing help them identify new opportunities, accelerate internal teams, and help shift toward a human-centered, design-driven culture as we go.

 

Job Responsibilities:

The Associate Principle Strategist, Business Design is a critical role for the growth of our company and scale of the services we deliver. In this role, you will:

  • Lead digital innovation engagements with Smashing clients. Working in collaboration with leads from creative and technology:
    • Work with our clients to understand or identify emergent opportunities
    • Utilize various inputs (stakeholder interviews market research, trends, user research, competitive research, experience mapping, etc) to help them prioritize their business goals, KPIs and product or service vision.
    • Utilize market research, user research, prototypes, and data to evolve existing products/services or identify new areas for growth
    • Set product vision and roadmap
    • Lead and define value proposition creation and validation
    • Provide ROI models and/or business cases to identify financial opportunity
    • Plan and lead “catalyst workshops” with clients as needed to create alignment
    • Contribute to organizational design
  • Build a profitable innovation strategy team. Working with the CSO:
    • Identify new areas of opportunity for Smashing Ideas – services, capabilities, or critical investments
    • Contribute to business development and proposals, helping sell the value of business design at Smashing
    • Create templates and tools that allow repeatability and consistency as the team grows

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in product planning, defining and launching successful products and/or services, and managing product portfolios for Global 500 companies
  • Ability to present confidently and persuasively to executive-level clients
  • Ability to communicate, teach, and coach business expertise across internal team
  • Experience leading multiple forms of human centered design research
  • Working knowledge and experience with desktop & mobile analytics tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of the key technical and creative elements required to build a successful digital product
  • Relentless in consumption of applicable business, consumer and cultural information
  • Collaborative work style, with a bias toward action
  • A minimum of 8+ years product management or similar experience
  • MBA preferred
